Date Night
Tonight was date night. However, my date was not my husband. Instead, my date was a handsome young man named Wilson. Today at T-ball, Wilson made his first hit! I had told him if he could go up and bat, then I would take him out on a date, just me and him, for ice cream. He tried and tried, but was too nervous to bat. But not today! I am so proud of him! He couldn't wait for our date, so we went tonight after supper. He also got me flowers! All on his own, too! The girls are going to be chasing him down when he is older! He chose where to go for ice cream and we both got some yummy flavors with mix-ins. It was a lot of fun and hopefully this will be incentive to bat some more! Below is a picture of my flowers!
**Update on the root canal....all I can say is Dr. H is awesome! One shot kind of pinched, but the other one (on the roof of the mouth), I didn't feel at all! The rest was easy! A definite answer to prayer......

I Don't Like Thursdays...
To make myself clear, it is just this specific Thursday. Let me back up a bit to explain. Last weekend, I had horrible gum pain on the top left part of my mouth. It was so bad that I was crying and wishing the Ibuprofen would kick in faster. Sunday was still painful, but I woke up Monday with no pain. I forgot all about it as I got busy at school and didn't call the dentist. I remembered Tuesday morning to call, so I left a message on his work answering machine to call me during my lunch time. Dr. H called and I explained my situation and he said he wanted to see me the very next day and that it did not sound good. I took half a sick day and ended up at 2...yes, I said 2, dentists. I had x-rays taken at Dr. H, but he could not see my metal plates. Metal plates you say? Yes I have four metal plates in my face. I had jaw surgery 15 years ago (I swear it only feels like 5!). He wanted me to go back to the oral surgeon to get a panoramic x-ray to make sure there was not an infection in the screw site. I went, there wasn't....which I suppose is a blessing....but I have to have a root canal b/c I have an infection in the bone and a dead tooth, which could have been caused by the jaw surgery....15 years ago. Anyway, this Thursday at 1:00pm is the dreaded root canal. I have an insane fear of the dentist and I am not looking forward to this AT ALL! Dr. H promises me that it won't hurt....I am just not buying it. Send prayers my way at 1:00pm this Thursday!!!

Morning Surprise
I was up getting Trey his breakfast a few minutes ago....(no he did not let me sleep in), when Meghan said, "Mommy, a gray duck just walked across our porch!". Yes, you read that correctly....a duck. I unlocked the door and saw the mallard duck in the yard, quacking. We went out on the front porch and the two ducks were just walking around in our yard. Trey got a big kick out of them. Lily was excited to see them too. We had to wake her up. We are not sure where they came from....we only have a little creek in our neighborhood, down the street from us. A neighborhood up H road has a big lake, so maybe they came from there. Who knows. Not everyday you see a couple of ducks in your front yard!

Earthquake!
Did any of you feel the earthquake this morning? I did! I was in the bathroom getting ready for work when the window behind me started to rattle. I turned around and was trying to figure out why it was doing that. It sounded weird and I didn't hear any planes, trucks, or even wind that would have been the cause. I didn't think any more of it until I turned on the news and they said we were feeling the tremors from Illinois! Who would have thought that would have reached here! It was 5.4 in Illinois. A very exciting way to wake up this morning!

Two Words!
I know it sounds crazy, but as a mother, a two word sentence is music to my ears! Trey finally said his first two word utterance: "My Daddy!" He is such a Daddy's boy! When Daniel is gone (to drill for instance), Trey walks around, going "Daaddy!". He cries when his daddy leaves saying "My Daddy". It is so sweet! Now if only the rest of his language would kick into high gear. I know...my concern is probably unfounded, but as an early childhood professional, I do not want him to be delayed, especially in language development. I do know that I can call F.S. at any time. I am trying to give him as close to 2 as I can before I see if I need to do something. Our pediatrician said about 50+ words by two (we have a lot of catching up to do). And yes, I know he has two older siblings that do a lot of talking, but I really do curb how they talk with him so that they are not talking FOR him. We label everything, from what we are doing when we put on our shoes to what we do in the bathtub!!! His receptive language works great...I know he understands me now (with tubes in)...it's the expressive language that concerns me. Waiting is so hard! ***aargh!***

Updates
Well....I didn't pick the winning team for the NCAA tourney...oh well. Better luck next year. Things have been hectic this week. Meg started up with Volleyball again thru the Y and Lily is taking gymnastics. Lily really loved her class and they got to do all sorts of things, including practicing handstands and cartwheels. Trey has gained a couple new words. Since last week, he can now say "mine", "bye" and "choo choo". I am so excited he is gaining a broader vocabulary. That is 8 words he has now!! He is big on saying "mine" nowadays, especially to his sisters. School got back with a great week weather wise. The kids were able to spend a lot of time outside this week (we were in the 70's). Friday was a bit stormy, but it cleared up by the time the girls had their spring carnival at school. They had a great time getting their hair sprayed pink and orange. Trey played soccer and won a prize! Daddy and Trey tried to win a cake in the cake walk, but they didn't have any luck. We just finished watching Wilson and Camden play their first tee-ball game. They won! Go Reds!

March Madness
This time of year brings a little competition in our home. For a few years now, Daniel and I have been filling out our own brackets for the Men's NCAA tournament. Funny thing...I usually, but not always, end up winning. This year Daniel seemed to be off to a great start, getting more teams in the first round than me. However, his pick for the national champ, Georgetown, was beat out quicker than he had imagined. I, however, have both picked both teams that are going to the National Championship...yep, you read that correctly. I picked Kansas and Memphis to be in the final game. I had all but one team in the final four. I have Memphis down as the winner overall....I picked them b/c of my Dad. So even though I bleed blue (wildcat blue), Monday night it is a different blue....Tiger blue. Go Tigers!!
Glorious Spring!
Today's weather was FABULOUS! We have been out playing and it is actually warm....yes, I said warm! Of course tomorrow could be freezing again, but we are hopeful that has passed on and we are moving into permanent warmer weather! Lily is currently outside practicing on her bike...without training wheels. This is the first day she has been on it without them and so far so good. No major accidents! Trey has been on the tractor that once was Aunt Katie's. I had found a wagon that goes to it at a yard sale and he loves to ride it! I have to watch him or he will be half way to the next house! I love this weather!!!!!

Camping Fun!
Spring update
This week was so relaxing and I really needed that. We went camping with Andy, Alyssa, the boys, and Uncle Bill on Tuesday. It was very cold that night (32 degrees!) and my feet were a little cold, but the rest of me was warm! Trey did great, even though I thought we would be chasing him everywhere! He loved digging in the dirt with the shovel. The girls loved sleeping in the camper with Uncle Roo and Aunt Alyssa. They were so excited! Trey slept in a tent with Daniel and I. I will post pictures later tonight, but right now, we are on our way to get ice cream at a place we love. The ice cream truck was ringing the bell thru our neighborhood and drove by the house while the girls were outside. She stopped and asked the girls if they wanted ice cream (I was watching thru the window)...and my first thought was "I can't believe she stopped to talk to my children with no parent around"....that she could tell...then I told Daniel that Lily was saying something back to her. Daniel said she is probably telling her we are going to B's for ice cream. Meg came running in and said the ice cream lady asked if they wanted ice cream and Lily had turned to her and said "no thank you, we are going to B's for ice cream later!" I laughed...Daniel so knows Lily and she knows the best place to get ice cream!
